It is NOT the gastrocnemius, soleus, or Achilles …. What could it Be? A plantaris muscle injury.

چکیده
The plantaris muscle originates from the lateral supracondylar line of the femur in the posterior of the knee and courses distally in an inferomedial direction near the medial head of the gastrocnemius and along themedial border of the Achilles tendon. The tendon of the plantaris muscle either inserts with the Achilles tendon or can have its own independent insertion on the calcaneus (4). The mechanism of injury to the plantaris muscle typically occurs during forceful plantarflexion or when an eccentric load is experienced at the ankle during dorsiflexion as is experienced during running or jumping, or merely stepping off a curb with no apparent trauma (Figure) (2Y4).

Lower oxidative DNA damage despite greater ROS production in muscles from rats selectively bred for high running capacity.
Artificial selection in rat has yielded high-capacity runners (HCR) and low-capacity runners (LCR) that differ in intrinsic (untrained) aerobic exercise ability and metabolic disease risk. To gain insight into how oxygen metabolism may have been affected by selection, we compared mitochondrial function, oxidative DNA damage (8-dihydroxy-guanosine; 8dOHG), and antioxidant enzyme activities in so...
متن کاملAchilles Tendon Rupture with Isolated Medial Malleolar Fracture in Ipsilateral Ankle: A Case Report
Achilles tendon ruptures and malleol fractures are commonly seen injuries in orthopaedic and traumatology practice, but what is rare is their concomitant. In this report, we aimed to present a rare case of a patient who has isolated medial malleolar fracture and achilles tendon rupture in ipsilateral ankle after an ankle sprain due to a fall from stairs and mechanism of injury.
